Casablanca to Fez and desert of Merzouga

Depending on your arrival, our driver will take your picture from your accommodation in Casablanca, where you will visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest city outside Mecca. Then we will go to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Here you will see the Hassan Tower, The Kasbah Oudaya before registering in your Riad in the heart of the Medina. Overnight in our hotel / Riad.
After breakfast in your Riad, you will begin to visit Meknes, another great imperial city of Morocco, known as the Ismaili capital of Morocco. In Meknes you will see the famous Bab Mansour gate, the SahrijSouaniBassin and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After lunch, your journey continues to Volubilis, the well preserved roman ruins, dating to 25BC. Then you will continue to Fez via the foothills of the Rif Mountains which arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight in our hotel / Riad.
After breakfast in your Riad, you will start exploring the oldest city in Morocco browsing its alleys and small streets. Our visit begins with a visit to the gate of the Royal Palace, the Jewish siege and the first Mellah built in Morocco. We will arrange for you to visit all sites of cultural and historical interest, including the famous Al – Qarawi University-the oldest in the region, the Tanneries and the Attarine Museum. After lunch you will see the ceramic factory and enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over the entire Medina of Fez. Overnight at hotel / Riad.
After breakfast, we will leave from Fez in the direction of Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village called “the Switzerland of Morocco”. During this trip, you will discover a glimpse of the mountains of the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas. Stop at Azrou-a Berber village in the middle of the famous Cedar Forest (the largest in Morocco, you may have the chance to see Barbary monkeys.) Then we will cross the tizintalghamt pass to Midelt and the magnificent Ziz Gorge sculpted through the volcanic rock overnight at the hotel / Riad.
After breakfast in your hotel, you will travel to Merzouga via Errachidia and Erfoud. You will travel through the gorge and ziz Valley, admiring the view of the High Atlas plateau, noting how the landscape is changing to reveal clues of the desert as the city of Errachidia approaches. Here you will have lunch and enjoy Berber hospitality. Then, you will travel along the luxuriant Ziz valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud and Rissani. Arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon, you will be greeted with a glass of mint tea before checking into your hotel.
After breakfast, you can start exploring the area. You will visit the Gnawa people, originally from Sudan, to discover their music and lifestyle, while the Merzouga Lake and its bird populations are nearby. You can also visit the nomadic farmhouse where many Berber handicrafts are sold cheaper than in the big cities. In the afternoon, it is time for your camel ride, guided by an experienced camel maker, while you go to explore in the Sandy sea of Merzouga. Dinner is in front of the tent where you will spend the night.
Your cameleer will awaken you early in the morning to watch what may be the best sunrise of your life, after which you will return to the village of Merzouga admiring the unique beauty of the spectacular dunes of the Erg Chebbi – changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast at the Riad, you will leave for the Rissani, Tinghir and Todra gorges – the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. Lunch in the heart of the gorge precedes a walk through the Dades Valley, where you will see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations called “Monkey toes”. Overnight at Hotel
After an early breakfast, you will depart to the High Atlas mountains via Ouarzazate. Nestled in the High Atlas Mountains, it is one of the jewels of Morocco … Kasbah AitBenhaddou. In typical Moroccan fashion, real treasures must be researched and discovered … usually off the beaten track. In fact, this setting has been used for more movies than any other place in Morocco; movies, including Lawrence Of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and recently The Gladiator. Lunch can be taken at Ait Ben Haddou.
After breakfast, you will have a guided tour of Marrakech, the Pearl of southern Morocco. You will discover the Bahia Palace, the saadian tombs and many other hidden treasures. After lunch, you will continue with the visit of the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna square, one of the main attractions of Marrakech. The tour will conclude with an exploration of the souk (market) lined with fresh fruits, spice mounds, carefully woven Berber carpets and many other Moroccan art objects. Free evening and dinner at the Riad.
